Concert-Thursday, March 22

The 6th grade orchestra and the Symphony orchestra will be performing on Thursday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at Middle School South. we are combining with the students from MSS. All 6th grade orchestra students should arrive by 5:45 p.m. in order to practice with south before the concert. 7th and 8th grade orchestra students should arrive by 6:15, and all winds and percussion should arrive by 6:45.

7/8 Organizational Contest

Organizational Contest will be on Saturday, March 10 at London Middle School in Wheeling, IL. All 7th and 8th grade orchestra students are required to attend. We will be leaving from HMN by bus at 12:00 to go to London MS. The performance time is 2:00 p.m. Students will need to be picked up at London following the performance. It will end at 2:30. Family and friends are welcome to attend the performance. We love playing for a big group!

Concert Info.

Our concert is on Thursday, January 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Middle North Gym. Strings should arrive no later than 6:15 for tuning and warmup. Symphony winds should arrive at 6:45 to warmup. Winds will warmup in the teachers lounge. Strings will meet in the band room for tuning. 7/8 students will stay in the band room, 6th graders will go to the music room (after tuning). Concert attire is white shirts, black pants or longer skirt, and black shoes. Winds can wear their band shirts or a plain white shirt.

Solo/Ensemble

Solo/ensemble contest is on February 18th. Middle North is hosting it this year. We will need parent and student volunteers. Please let me know if you are available.

IMEA

Welcome back!

Sorry it took so long to get back on here. I was going to change to the school blog instead but will use this for now. Rehearsals and lessons are underway. Everyone has something to practice at home. Chamber orchestra will begin next Thursday, October 6th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in the band room. Rehearsals will take place every Tuesday and Thursday before school. Students auditioning for IMEA will go to Deer Park Middle School on Tuesday, October 4th. A letter will be given this week. Have a great year!

Open House Concert

Our final concert is on the night of Open House on Wednesday, May 11th. The 6th grade, 7th/8th grade, and Symphony orchestras will perform. Students should dress in concert attire and arrive by 6:30 p.m. to tune and warm up. The concert will begin at 7:15. The choruses perform at 6:30, orchestras at 7:15, and bands at 8:00. Orchestra students are required to stay for the orchestra portion only. Practice a lot at home!
