Solo/Ensemble

Solo/ensemble contest is on February 18th. Middle North is hosting it this year. We will need parent and student volunteers. Please let me know if you are available.

Welcome back!

Sorry it took so long to get back on here. I was going to change to the school blog instead but will use this for now. Rehearsals and lessons are underway. Everyone has something to practice at home. Chamber orchestra will begin next Thursday, October 6th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in the band room. Rehearsals will take place every Tuesday and Thursday before school. Students auditioning for IMEA will go to Deer Park Middle School on Tuesday, October 4th. A letter will be given this week. Have a great year!

Open House Concert

Our final concert is on the night of Open House on Wednesday, May 11th. The 6th grade, 7th/8th grade, and Symphony orchestras will perform. Students should dress in concert attire and arrive by 6:30 p.m. to tune and warm up. The concert will begin at 7:15. The choruses perform at 6:30, orchestras at 7:15, and bands at 8:00. Orchestra students are required to stay for the orchestra portion only. Practice a lot at home!

Organizational Contest

The IGSMA Organizational Contest is on Saturday, March 12th for the 7/8 orchestra. We will perform at 12:00 p.m. at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Mundelein. All 7th and 8th grade orchestra members are required to attend. Students will need to be dropped off by 10:45 a.m. at Sandburg MS. Family and friends are welcome to attend the performance. The bigger the audience the better the kids perform. Please let me know if you have any questions.

No Symphony Party on Thursday, 2/3

Our Thursday party is canceled. We will have it next Tuesday, 2/8 instead.

Concert Reminder!

Who: 6^th Grade Orchestra, 7/8 Grade Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra

When: Wednesday, January 26^th at 7:00 p.m. String students need to meet at 6:15 in the band room to tune and warm up. Winds can come at 6:45 to warm up.

Where: Middle North Gym

Dress: Black pants or long skirt, black shoes, white shirt

Materials: Instruments and music. Cellists and bassists-bring you own cello/bass and rock stop.
